Description:  
This program is designed to introduce the non metalworker to the detailed aspects of working with shop metalworking equipment. The learner will develop skills in the area of Manual Mill and Manual Lathe operation and part design. The student will experience 90% hands-on, project oriented machine operation. Each project is specifically designed to instruct the student on new techniques of shop metal work. Additional instruction is provided on other shop tools including horizontal and vertical band saws, drill press, and hand tools.
Upon completion the student will be able to demonstrate proficiency in all area of machine shop set up, and tool building. The instruction is primarily hands-on performance based assessment where the student will have to demonstrate proficiency before they can move to the next level. This class is the perfect building point for the student interested in pursuing a career as a machine shop or CNC operator/programmer.
